What we collect
Speedie receives your IP address to respond to network requests, but does not store the raw address. We create a keyed hash using a private server-side salt. The hash supports rate limits and abuse protection; it is a pseudonymous identifier, not a guarantee of anonymity.
Completed real tests store download and upload speeds, HTTP latency, jitter, estimated request loss, loaded latency, a quality grade, test server, date, selected connection type and broad device category. We also hash the browser’s user-agent string. We do not collect ISP or precise location data.
What stays in your browser
Your theme preference and most recent 50 tests are stored in localStorage on your device. This includes private deletion tokens for online results. Demo results stay local and do not enter the public database or statistics. Clear local history on the History page. Clearing browser data also removes your local copies and deletion tokens.
Sharing and deleting results
Real tests receive an unguessable result link. Anyone with that link can see the measurements, test date, connection type and device category. IP and user-agent hashes are never included in public results. Use “Delete online result” in History to revoke a result link while its deletion token is still available. Clearing local history alone does not delete the online copy.
Website tests
Speedie sends a request to the public website you enter. That website sees Speedie’s server IP, not your IP. We store the tested URL with query strings and fragments removed, along with response measurements. Paths can still contain sensitive information: do not test private, signed or token-containing URLs.
Retention and logs
Individual speed results are retained for up to 90 days, website tests for up to 30 days, and expired rate-limit and test-session records are removed by scheduled maintenance. Aggregate daily statistics contain no individual identifiers. Encrypted-storage access is not implied; database access is restricted to the application and server administrators.
This site disables Nginx access and error logs for its virtual host and avoids logging request bodies, full URLs or raw client addresses in the application. Database backups are restricted to server administrators and rotate after seven days, so deleted records may remain in backups until those expire.
No advertising trackers
No login, advertising cookies, third-party analytics or external font requests are required. Your device must contact this site to use it. The hosting network may process connection metadata independently of the application.
